Court rules in favor of Second Amendment gun right

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court says Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices' first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.

The court's 5-4 ruling strikes down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision goes further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact..."

A REAL victory for those of us that support the 2nd amendment !!

Proving Obama is once again on the wrong side of the issue, and in an election campian time. If Mccain or his staff have any smarts, he will capitalize on this NOW.

Listening to one of the talk shows discussing this, they were talking about 4 justices' who will be leaving their postions over the next 4 years and how important it is to ensure the right person gets into the presidential office. One of them has stated that in crime ridden cities to have a gun in the home is inviting trouble. sheeeshhhh !

I personally am outraged that we require the opinion of nine people to tell me what is plainly stated in black and white in the Constitution. It is my opinion that we need to hold these people and all government servants to the standard of that sovereign document. If we did there would be many politicians and judges in jail, where they belong, in my opinion.
