Israeli threats stiffen Iran's resolve - Page 2 Empty Iran warms to freeze-for-freeze plan

Post by yunowu Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:40 pm

The offer has been touted for some years, now there are indications Tehran is prepared to commit to a six-week freeze on any expansion of its uranium-enrichment activities. In return, the six countries dealing with its nuclear dossier will halt any movement towards tougher sanctions against Iran. - Gareth Porter (Jul 3, '08)

Iran's foreign minister says there is a new atmosphere in talks centered on his country's controversial nuclear program. In remarks to reporters at the United Nations, Manouchehr Mottaki said there have been "positive and constructive" developments in talks with the six major powers, raising hopes a diplomatic solution could be on the horizon. Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is in New York to bolster Iran's embattled diplomacy. Mottaki has sounded off on issues ranging from the "Iran Six" and Israel to Tehran's involvement in Iraq. Ultimately, he hinted at his own flexibility by stating "the first word a diplomat learns is compromise". - Kaveh L Afrasiabi (Jul 2, '08)

Israeli threats stiffen Iran's resolve - Page 2 Empty Iran doesn't have to blink to make America and its partners blush

Friday's news that Iran has submitted an official response to an offer from major powers regarding its nuclear program came not a moment too soon. Neither side released any details, but observers were expecting that Tehran's answer - to a package of incentives (and subtle threats) in exchange for suspending its uranium-enrichment activities - would be neither an enthusiastic "yes" nor an unequivocal "no." As the two sides take their next steps in what has become a very dangerous situation, it is important that at least one of them start to behave reasonably....

JERUSALEM - An Israeli military exercise over the Mediterranean appears to have been less a dry run for an attack on Iran than a message that Tehran must curb its nuclear ambitions, according to officials and experts. U.S. defense officials suggested last week that the drill was a dress rehearsal for an Israeli strike. But the Greek government, which took part in the exercise, rejected that assessment. And some observers think the disclosure of the maneuvers was aimed at getting the...

Israeli threats stiffen Iran's resolve - Page 2 Empty Iran takes off on a goodwill mission

Post by yunowu Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:00 pm

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad takes center stage in Malaysia this week at a summit of the Group of Eight Islamic developing countries. It is an opportunity for Tehran to promote its global agricultural and energy aid programs, which it hopes will convince the Group of Eight nations, meeting in Tokyo simultaneously, to "look at Iran through a different lens". The fate of United States-Iran diplomacy is on the line. - Kaveh L Afrasiabi (Jul 7, '08)

They're must be a culture gap here. Middle Eastern governments often make these absurd histrionic statements like, "And the US dogs will swim in a bath of blood and be feasting on own entrails." I think it's intended to impress a point but they just come across sounding about as credible as a serial killer.

good idea....

let the iranian general dig 320,000 graves...

he's going to need them....then we wont have to...

on second thought.....at 755 degrees F, and 200 miles per hour

you wont need too many graves...

just have the iranian soldiers stand at the bottom, and they will just fall in....maybe

.the only question unanswered is.......

who's going to nuke em?....

the US or the Heebs ?

guess it really dosent matter does it ?

In a lengthy analysis of U.S.-Iranian trade Tuesday, the Associated Press says American exports to Iran have shown enormous growth since President George Bush took office in 2001, even though they remain only a tiny fraction of overall U.S. sales abroad....
